由SMG发起的“2008分之一公益短片行动”正在紧张进行中，谢晋、顾长卫、关锦鹏、徐克等多位著名导演共同加盟，该行动旨在记录2008年中华民族的伟大精神和感人瞬间。
导演顾长卫的这部短片，是根据汶川大地震中一个感人的真实故事改编而成，反映的是地震中感人的一个瞬间。拍摄过程中，蒋勤勤不惜形象被毁，顶着炎炎烈日，在残乱的废墟中，脸上涂满泥土和血浆，为了达到眼中有血丝的效果，又用烟熏眼睛，面对这一切，蒋勤勤都全力配合，丝毫没有半句怨言，她和导演一致认同不要让观众认出这就是蒋勤勤，其敬业程度可见一般。
此前，蒋勤勤夫妇曾为这次四川地震捐款20万元，用于灾后重建工作。并多次参与赈灾晚会，还曾在余震汹涌的第一时间赶到灾区现场，慰问那里的灾民和小朋友。这次又分文不取、完全义务出演这样的一个短片，在我们看来，蒋勤勤似乎已经付出太多太多，而她却总认为，自己做得还远远不够，对于这次拍摄，蒋勤勤表示：“这是一件很认真严肃的事情，应该拿出百分之百的诚心来对待，汶川地震是2008年发生的最重大事件，为了还原真实，我吃再多的苦也没关系。”
